Where does “Pakistan” come from?

Pakistan derives from Urdu پاکستان, composed of Urdu پاک meaning pure, combined with Middle Persian -stʾn', ultimately from Old Persian 𐎿𐎫𐎠𐎴 and Proto-Iranian stā́nam meaning place or land.
